Dugaan di Ambang Aidilfitri Part II

sambungan from the previous entry.

Rizq was discharged from the hospital on Friday 11th September at around 5pm. Masa tu dia dah memang takde fever dah, tak selsema or batuk. He was okay. I was happy to see him healthy again, talkative. I noticed that lepas keluar hospital, dia jadi bertambah2 noti.. perhaps due to the overdose of TLC that we gave when he was sick. But like a friend said, biarlah dia nakal.. asal jangan sakit sudah....

The next day, we went to Subang Parade for iftar & also to find raya shoes for the boys. Ha.. masa kat Subang parade terserempak pulak dengan Maria, Amir and their 4-yr old son. Apalah nama budak tu.. lupa..... Since it was nearing iftar, we just chatted briefly. We had our iftar at the Chicken Rice Shop, my kids favourite makan place. I dah muak dah actually makan kat situ. Tapi Shad nak sangat makan chicken rice kat situ, and since he was fasting, abah & ibu ikut ajelah....
(All the following photos were taken just a day after Rizq got discharged from PPUM)

Life resumed normalcy.... until....
On Wednesday morning 16th September, I received a called from PPUM. Dr Norashikin from Paediatric Ward was on the line. She asked me about Rizq, whether he still has fever or running nose. I said, no.. he's fine. And after that, Dr Norashikin dropped the bomb, she told me that they have just got the result for the H1N1 test, and it was confirmed that Rizq was H1N1 positive. Imagine, we only got the result like 5 days after the throat swab was done! I was alil confused, "but Dr.. that day you said it was bacterial infection?". Then she explained that from the blood test, it looked like bacterial infection and since Rizq was responding well to antibiotic, they thought it was it lah kan. But since the H1N1 test turned out to be positive, it could be that Rizq got concurrent infections, both bacterial and viral. Oh my.......

Ya Allah.... benda yang paling I takut finally hit us. But the Dr reassured us that since Rizq at that time was no longer showing symptoms, probably the virus had died. But we had to take extra precautions and observe kalau2 ada siapa2 in the house yang menunjukkan H1N1 symptoms. I was worried about Shad since he is asthmatic. Since I had the closest contact with Rizq when he was sick, I thought it was only a matter of time before I got it. It was only 3 days before raya. Mulalah hatiku ini terasa sedih dan pilu........ My hubby and I agreed that if anyone of us showing symptoms, we would cancel our plan to to balik kampung for raya. Sedih sangat tau.....

Thursday... Friday.... Alhamdulillah, takde nampak sebarang symptom lagi. Some friends suggested that we go for H1N1 screening, just to confirm that we don't have the virus. I knew that government hospitals were no longer do the screening to outpatients. They only do it for those who were warded. I called 3-4 Klinik Cegah dan Rawat H1N1 (KCRH1N1) in Subang Jaya (there were about 8 clinics and medical centre in SUbang Jaya participating in it) and asked them the method they use to test for H1N1. Most clinics do blood test, but one medical centre said they do throat swab & the result is available after 5 hours. The cost for each test is RM310. I asked my sis doctor whether we should go for the screening, but she felt that it may not be accurate since at that time we were not showing any symptom. Nanti buatnya buat test hari ni, kata negative, but besoknya baru dapat the virus, takkan nak buat test lagi? The tests should be done at the right time. So.. we decided to tunggu ajelah. I also seeked advice from our panel doctor, and she said as long as we're not showing any symptom, there's nothing to be worried about. And even if we eventually got H1N1, it doesn't mean the end of the world. Most people will recover from it, and quoting my sis "it's just a flu which occassionally kills".

Since we were not showing any symptom, we went balik kampung on Saturday, just one day before Raya. I have briefed my children to always cover their coughs and sneezes. I guess Rizq abosrbed the lesson really well, as he gets really irritated whenever he sees anyone coughing or sneezing without covering mouth. Got one time my father was in the car when he suddenly sneezed. Rizq terus tengok atok dia and said "batuk tutup mulutlah!".... he..he....

We went back to JB on the second day of Raya. It was a good raya I must say sebab dapat berkumpul dengan all my 5 siblings and our families. Selalunya mesti ada yang tak sempat jumpa or jumpa sekejap sangat.

By 5th day of Raya, all my siblings went back to their homes. And that was when I started to feel sakit tekak & selsema. My throat was really sakit sampai tengah tido boleh terjaga. I thought.. alamak... adakah ini tandanya........ I checked my temperature, ok normal. So I minum air banyak2.. sebanyak yang mungkin.. Kak Ajin said, the virus starts from the inside of the mouth, so we should drink banyak2 sangat to wash it down.

Later that day, Kak Ajin called all the way from KL and asked whether ada tak sesiapa kat JB yang sakit. I told her I sakit tekak & selsema. She said she herself, her hubby (also a doctor) and daughter also sakit tekak, selsema & feverish. Lepas tu we found out our aunties and cousins pun ada yang sakit sampai tak boleh bangun. My eldest sis pun sakit. Lepas tu my younger bro pun complained the same thing. Arghh... semua orang sakit....

Actually before we fell sick, one of our aunties and her son one day came to visit us for Raya and masa tu both of them looked sick, coughing and had running nose. At that time, Kak Ajin, being a doctor dah rasa tak sedap. She felt that an outbreak was going to happen.. and voila! she was right.... So she advised us to try to strengthen our immune system by taking supplements such as Vitamin C, Scotts Emulsion and Shaklee nutriferon.

Today is the 11th day of raya. Last night mom told me that my yonger bro has been confirmed to be Influenza A positive. I need to explain here that when someone is confirmed to be Influenza A positive does not necessarily means that he has H1N1. H1N1 belongs to A group, together with so many other types of Influenza. But since H1N1 IS the latest fashion nowadays, it was probably it. My brother in on Tamiflu at the moment. And my brother-in-law, eventhough he didn't do any test for neither Influenza A nor H1N1, but since his fever this time is quite bad, it is also most likely to be it. And he's also on Tamflu at the moment.

I pray that both my brother and bro-in-law will get well soon. As for me, I'm on antibiotic at the moment. I still have cough and running nose, but dah tak sakit tekak. Harap2 semua okaylah....... To be safe, I better quarantine myself at home (no beraya2) until this whatever bug I have finally goes away. So jangan kecik hati kalau I tak ajak datang rumah ya......

  4. Thanks for the prayers, friends. You guys take care too as the virus is like everywhere. As for me, so far I've been showing mild symptoms. Don't really know whether it's really "it" or not.

Salam Syawal and Maaf Zahir batin right from the bottom of my heart.
