This is the happy news that I wanted to share here. On 13th - 15th January, me and my colleagues took part in UM Research, Invention & Innovation Expo 2009. It is actually a yearly event which provides a platform for the University researchers to showcase all our research projects. This is the first time I took part in such event. At first, I didn't really want to take part as i thought my research was just like any other researches... nothing so grand about it. But a colleague persuaded me & said.. alah.... suka2 aje... So I gave it a long thought & since this year is gonna be a busy year & I don't think I want to spend so much time in presenting papers, so I thought by participating in this event, at least it would give something to add in my CV. Takkan nak biarkan tahun 2009 kosong aje kan..... So, I decided to give it a shot....
And Alhamdulillah, that was a wise decision as my research won a SILVER medal in Humanities & Social Science category. Wow... that was really something to celebrate! I haven't won anything for quite sometime (not even a lucky draw), so when I saw my name listed as one of the Silver Medallist, I was like jumping jumping..... Sukanya tak tahu nak cakap macam mana...
Actually I had two entries in that Expo. Another project was not lead by me, but I was involved as a Co-Researcher. For that project, we won a BRONZE! To add to my happiness, another two entries from our department also won Silver medals. There were about 18 entries from our faculty, and out of that number 7 entries won medals ie 3 silvers & 4 bronzes. And all the silver medals were contributed by us - the smallest department (not quite a department actually, we're only a Program). Hello people up there.. I think it's about time for you to realize our existence.. So please don't beat about george bush when dealing with our proposal to upgrade our status from Rancangan to Jabatan... We certainly have more than what it takes to be a Jabatan.
All in all.... it's a good start for the year 2009.

ReplyDeleteSingle.. it was about public engagement in local affairs. I dah tak buat tourism la... The other research yang dapat Bronze tu led by Dr Mela & it was about pre-school planning.
