Update on the baby (and the bump)

Yesterday morning I went to my panel clinic for antenatal check-ups. For this pregnancy, I pandai sakit. I make full use of the benefits of having panel clinic as much as I can. My panel clinic memang buat antenatal check-up. In my previous pregnancies, I did my check-up at private hospitals which cost me at least RM100 in every check-up. there were times when the cost of check up menceccah sampai almost RM400! This pregnancy pandai sikit. Sebagai langkah menjimatkan kos (almaklumlah since the family is expanding), I only go to panel clinic and had all my tests done there. So, satu sen pun tak payah keluar..... semua employer tanggunglah kan. But of courselah, kat panel clinic ni yang check Dr biasa ajelah not Gynae.
I'm already in my 30 weeks of pregnancy and have done all the necessary tests. Starting from week 32, I will need to do my check-up every fortnightly. And since I'm already in advanced stage of pregnancy, I will start going to see Gynae after this. My plan is to "try out" Prof Siti Zawiyah at Universiti Malaya Specialist Centre (UMSC). For those yang tak tahu, UMSC is actually the private wing of UMMC (PPUM). Why I said "try out", because one thing about choosing a gynae ni... you have to be comfortable with her as she's the one who's going to poke you and touch you here and there. You must have a good chemistry with your gynae. And mainly because of that reason, I prefer to deliver at private medical centre as you can choose your gynae and as much as possible, I only want female Muslim doctor. Why female.. because of the obvious reason lah kan.... And why Muslim, sekurang2nya Dr baca Bismillah sebelum sambut my baby to this world. Tapi tu pun kalau bacalah.. takkan I nak cakap dgn Dr pulak, "please baca Bismillah before helping my baby out of my womb". And for the second reason juga, I selalunya prefer Dr yang look Islamic.
My friend Linda highly recommended Dr Marshitah Mansor from Pantai bangsar Medical Centre. She said the Dr is very Islamic and actually taught her amalan2 yang sunat dilakukan masa pregnant. She was very comfortable with the gynae and said that she felt with her, everything was well taken care of. I'm interested in trying out her gynae, tapi kan Pantai Bangsar is known to be sangat mahal. Linda told me that she was charged RM6K for normal delivery with the help of ventousse extraction & epidural, but it was covered by her hubby's company. Aco aco..... mahalnya.. tu baru normal tu.... I remember last time when I was charged close to RM6K for c-section at Selangor Medical Center pun dah rasa macam nak bankrap. Ni lah kesiannya kakitangan kerajaan kan.. we don't get the benefit of having our babies delivered at posch medical center such as Prince Court like orang tu yang hubby dia kerja Petronas....he..he...

Back to my check-up yesterday....

1. Baby looks fine and healthy and his size is 1 week bigger than his age. Oh yes.. the baby is a "he". We're expecting another Ben 10 in our family.
2. Oh.. I had my Gluconse Tolerance Test yesterday. It is a routine test for pregnant women yang ada family history of diabetes. The test is aim to determine how quickly is glucose being cleared out of your blood. The test procedure is like this. first you will have to "fast" for 12 hours. Lepas tu Dr will check glucose level in your blood. Lepas tu dia bagi glucose drink sebesar satu mug untuk diminum. Ha... this is the most challenging part. I remember masa buat this test masa pregnant Rizq, glucose drink dia warna putih & rasa dia sungguh tak sedap.... manissssss sangat. Seksa nak habiskan satu mug. But yesterday, it was not that difficult sebab glucose drink yang Dr bagi rasa blackcurrant. Dr kata dia memang order flavoured glucose drink. Lepas minum tu, kena sambung puasa for 2 hours. So I baliklah rumah kejap sementara tunggu 2 jam tu. Felt a bit dizzy and cold. Lepas tu gi clinic balik & again Dr checked my glucose level. And Alhamdulillah, it was normal.
3. The not so good news was that... Dr told me that I had low lying placenta AKA placenta previa Type 1. Placenta praevia refers to the condition when the placenta is attached near to or covering your cervix. Type 1 maknanya uri menghampiri cervix, belum tutup lagi. Dr said, there's still time for the uri to naik. So I guess there's nothing much I can do selain berdoa sajalah. More information on Placenta Praevia are available here and here.

  1. ahakss, org tu yg hubby dia keje Petronas, r u talking abt me? hahaha... perasan la plak kejap kan.. hehe.. nyway, eventhough Petronas will cover the delivery cost at Prince Court, I still choose to deliver at my beloved hometown tau.. n with my personal gynae.. the same one yg deliver my previous girls.. hehe.. the reason, as u said la.. the gynae must be the one we feel comfortable with, n Muslim woman.. so, tkpela tk dpt kt Prince Court pun, at least, i confident with the doctor.. insyaAllah.. : ) maybe next time, I'll try the Prince Court lak.. hehe..
