Kids' quips

Location :

Hubby said something to our eldest boy, Shad which made him unhappy & merajuk. Noticing the sulk on his face hubby asked "Kenapa Shad ni kalau abah usik sikit mesti merajuk? Kalau dengan ibu Shad tak pernah merajuk. Shad tak sayang abah ke?". And his reply was "Yalah.... kan Nabi kata kena sayang ibu dulu, baru sayang abah. Sayang ibu 3 kali, barulah abah". Ha..ha.. hubby was dumbfounded & me, mestilah kembang semangkuk.

Shad... he's very close to me & very manja too. Mom said he really looks like me when I was a child. He's generally a good boy, seldom giving us any problem. He's doing good in school. Started to read even before he turned 6. He's going to attend an Islamic private school in SS 15 Subang Jaya next year. Alhamdulillah, after a year of attending Genius Aulad preschool, I can see that he now understands the fundamentals of Islamic teachings. He's able to recite the Shahadah & knows the meaning, surah2 pendek, doa2 & able to perform solat just like adults.

I remember one day after he got home from the nursery, he went straight to the kitchen & open the fridge door. I asked him "Shad nak apa?". And he said "nak tengok ada logo halal tak", and went on to explain to me that teacher Ita (his favourite teacher) said, orang Islam kena makan yang ada logo halal aje. Oohh... that explains why dia buat inspection segala benda dalam fridge tu - kicap, sos, serbuk kari, air soya.... Since that day, every time we go for groceries shopping at Giant or Mydin Mall, he would be our Jakim officer to make sure everything we buy got "Halal" logo. He would make such a big fuss of it sampaikan si adik Rizq yang baru 3 tahun pun dah pandai check logo halal. Tapi Rizq.. segala tulisan jawi semua dia kata logo halal..heeeh... It was because of Shad, we have stopped buying Kinder Bueno chocolate as there was no logo halal printed on the chocolate plastic wrappers. Hey... don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Kinder Bueno chocolates are non-halal, but it's better to be sure right. And I also remember the doubt on his face when we bought some kerepeks cap Mak Limah ke Mak Lijah from Petronas convenient store as there was no logo halal printed on the plastic wrapper. Alamak... takkan industri kecil-kecilan Mak Limah pun kena ada logo halal jugak. Tapi come to think about it, sepatutnya memang adalah kan.. supaya tak was-was.

See... so much thing to learn from a small boy. This is part of the reason why we decided to send him to an Islamic private school instead of sekolah kebangsaan. Not only we want him to have a deeper knowledge on Islam, but we hope that we can learn and re-learn new things and not-so-new from him. I still remember those days when he came home from his school & told me that teacher asked him to memorize nama2 Malaikat & their responsibilities, para Nabi Ulul-Azmi, Islamic months, doa, Asmaul Husna & also short surahs. I found that I have forgotten so much! I am ashamed to admit that i have forgotten some of those things he mentioned. And because teacher asked him to learn/recite those things, I found myself re-learning with him. I googled the internet, bought books, not only to educate him but also to re-educate myself.

But sometimes he used what he learned in school to his advantage. I remember one day while feeding him (yes... I still suap him makan till today), he suddenly said "Shad dah kenyang". Then I said, "aikkk... sikit je". He said "kan Nabi kata berhenti sebelum kenyang". Ha..ha.. yalah tu... memang betul nabi ajar macam tu. He must have disliked the food kot, sebab tu makan sikit. Kalau lauk yang dia suka macam sambal telur ke, ikan caru sambal ke or anything yang bersambal lah tapi yang tak pedas sangat, sampai 3 pinggan pun macam tak cukup2. Time tu tak ingat pulak nabi pesan berenti makan sebelum kenyang.

Alamak..... cakap pasal Shad je. Actually I wanted to write about both Shad & my another buah hati, Rizq and their quips.. but I'll talk more about si mulut petot tu, another day. There are so many things to talk about Rizq. He talks a lot these days & some of the vocabs he picked up were different from what we normally use at home. For example he says "gelak" instead of "ketawa", "air putih mati" instead of "air masak". ha..ha.. quite impressive huh for a 3-year-old. He really adores his big brother so much & Shad also.. can't live a day without his adik, even though they fight with each other on hourly basis.

Gotta go now. It's 1.16 pm. Plan to cook ayam masak sambal for today's lunch & sekali arung dinner. For dinner nanti tinggal goreng cauliflower & telur dadar je. For lunch, since it's only me at home, I'll just have my lauk ayam sambal & timun masak potong.. he.. he...
